Smatterings

1. I am lap-deep in a knit baby blanket. It is adorable, but also time-consuming. Lots of charts. This is the only knitting going on right now, and it's not stash yarn, so I can't justify buying this beautiful yarn for a lightweight cardigan. It's okay - I want the cardigan NOW, but have no time to knit it. Deadlines!

2. Speaking of deadlines, I have a secret crafty deadline coming up and I am WOEFULLY behind. Hear me? WOEFULLY.

3. I bought a serger a few months ago off Craigslist for $85. I had it cleaned up and took my first class on how to use it last weekend. Tomorrow is part two, and I think I failed my homework. I'm supposed to make a rolled hem. I followed the instructions, but as I'm not entirely certain what a rolled hem looks like, I'm not sure if I did it right. But I love my serger and I think it's going to totally change how (and what) I sew. I've been dutifully studying Sew U Home Stretch and I will hopefully be ready to tackle a t-shirt sometime soon.

4. We bought couches! And nobody died! The ensuing arguments were probably one of the low points of our marriage, but it once again re-inforced the idea of fighting fair. I have a tendency to bring up things that happened years ago. Anyway, couches! Coming to a living room near you in five to seven more weeks!

5. I have been given creative control over our bedroom do-over. Faced with and paralyzed by such awesome responsibility, I did the only thing that made sense: I bought a new dog bed. Justin then informed me that Gracie isn't the type of dog who is interested in traditional dog iconography.

6. Our four year anniversary is next week.
