Before we get to today's blanket, let me share a tip with you. Do not take two golden retrievers shopping. Your arms will be sore and you will be cranky when you get home. Thank you.
Today's blanket is, again, another favorite of mine. The green blanket. You'll have to bear with me because I don't really know a whole lot about this blanket. I can't even remember if it's knit or crocheted. I'm pretty sure it's knit.
Like I've said before, we don't really have any extended family. I never knew either of my grandmothers, but I like to think my Grandma Jordan knew me. She made the green blanket and it was my constant companion when I was little.

It's not very big - I couldn't use it to cover my entire body now, but it was just the right size for a little girl who sucked her thumb. This was my thumb-sucking blanket after my blankie bit the dust, and just like the green portion of Aunt Marg's blanket, this afghan smells so good. It's one of the few things I would save in a fire. I remember sitting in front of our big, wood-framed TV in our house on Aspen Hills, holding a corner of the blanket in my right hand while I sucked my thumb. I wasn't supposed to suck my thumb - only babies sucked their thumbs - so I was using the blanket to hide my face. Even now, when I go back to my parents' house, I curl myself as small as possible and hide under the green blanket when something is bothering me. It's pretty lightweight, so if you're really cold, you need to use a heavier blanket on top. That's okay with me - I like the feeling of protecting the green blanket with a heavier layer of acrylic.
