Not a hipster, but I play one on TV

My knitting productivity has been through the roof these days. You can attribute it to the colder weather and impending holidays, but I think of it more as "avoiding projects I'm too afraid to start." I am rarely afraid of my knitting. I am afraid of the wonders hidden deep in my craft closet, but not my knitting.

Hot off the needles (after a nice soak in the sink and some forceful stretching): Milkweed.

This was a really fun, quick knit, and the pattern was great. It called for a skein of sock yarn, but I used only about 2/3 of a skein of Fleece Artist 2/6 merino - I have about 100 yards left. I bought this long, long ago on simplysocks.com, I think. I love the way the garter stitch knit up, and I love that I got to use my blocking wires (which cost me a grand total of $4 at Ace Hardware).

Milkweed is a little shawl, more of a shawlette, and all of the cool kids are wearing their shawlettes like so this season:

Now, I am not a hipster, depsite the fact that Milkweed is being modeled over a Wilco long sleeve t-shirt. I will share that I slept in that shirt the night before and may or may not have been wearing a bra. But all of the cool kids are wearing their shawlettes with the point in the front, the curved ends wrapped once loosely about the neck. Alas, Milkweed and I will soon be parting ways, but I am fantasizing of a solid red Ishbel to fill her place.
