It's the little things you do together

Tony Awards recap: Once again, a SEVERE lack of Carol Channing. I was very proud of Judd Hirsch for emulating Mandy Patankin circa 1999 (dudes, we do not wear sunglasses inside). Congratulations to David Hyde Pierce for winning a Tony and totally coming out to the world on national TV. I've already ordered the soundtracks to Company (which I already had, but it's bootlegged and the 70's cast) and Spring Awakening. I sang "Chim-Chimminee" to Gracie, who seemed rather impressed by my dulcet tones. I was bummed that there wasn't a performance of The Apple Tree. And can I tell you? The winning play? The Coast of Utopia? NINE HOURS LONG. I'm not quite sure how that works.

Penny and my parents headed back home to Iowa today. Gracie is one sad tomato. I think she's already put herself to bed. It's a lot quieter around here, and I've stopped finding shredded paper towels all over the house.

The girls, Justin and I trooped to Kaufmann Stadium for the Royals' first annual Stitch 'n Pitch today. It was great. I knit the entire foot and part of a heel of my new Royals socks (picture when my batteries are recharged) and the Royals won 17-5. I think it was the first time I've stayed for the entire game. We're going to see the Royals vs. Cardinals on Tuesday night, and Justin's going to a rooftop game at Wrigley on Saturday. This week is his dream come true.

How sad is it that I work in theatre and totally missed the Tonys? I crashed and burned after a long weekend with the boyfriend and his kids and saw not a moment of them...

So, you've been to the last two Royals games, and the Royals have won them by a combined 25-6. I think as a super-belated wedding gift I'm going to get you and Justin 2008 season tickets! :) (This season is already too far gone.)

Spring Awakening? Hmmm...not so sure after watching that production number. Guess I have become far too stuck in my ways when it comes to the theater--give me Spamalot any day! As for Company, I have to chuckle. I spent the better part of 9 holes of golf this evening with "Being Alive" running through my head.

Didn't really do much for my game... :)
